88 Surah Al -Gashiyah – The Overwhelming
In the name of Allah, the entirely Merciful, the especially Merciful
- 1) Allah asks, “Has the news of the Overwhelming Event reached you?”
- 2) On that Day the faces of the disbelievers will be gloomy and dark, out of shame.
- 3) They would be exhausted and tired of all their hard work in worshipping gods other than Allah.
- 4) They will enter in the hot blazing Fire.
- 5) They will be given water to drink from a boiling spring.
- 6) They will have no food except a poisonous, thorny plant,
- 7) Which will neither give them any energy nor satisfy their hunger.
- 8) And On that Day the faces of the believers will be glowing with joy.
- 9) They would be happy and satisfied with the efforts they did in the world to please Allah.
- 10) They will enter a lofty garden of Paradise
- 11) Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood.
- 12) In it will be a flowing spring of water
- 13) Along with thrones and couches raised high
- 14) And cups of drinks placed near them
- 15) And fine cushions lined up
- 16) And ˹splendid˺ carpets spread out.
- 17) Do people not look at the camels, and wonder how they are created?
- 18) And at the sky, how it is raised high,
- 19) And at the mountains—how they were firmly set up
- 20) And at the earth, how it is spread out?
- 21) “So, continue to remind and advice, O Prophet Mohammad (pbuh), for your duty is only to remind”
- 22) You are not there to force them to believe.
- 23) But whoever turns away and disbelieves in Allah
- 24) Then Allâh will punish them with the greatest punishment.
- 25) Surely they have to return back to Allah
- 26) And surely to Allah they will have to answer.
