80 Surah Abasa – He Frowned

In the name of Allah, the entirely Merciful, the especially Merciful

  1. The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) frowned and turned his attention away
  2. ˹simply˺ because the blind man came to him ˹interrupting˺.
  3. You never know ˹O Prophet˺,May be, (if you had listened to him properly,) he would have  become pure (from sins)?
  4. or have taken the advice, and the advice would have benefited him.
  5. As for the one who does not care
  6. you gave him your full˺ attention,
  7. even though you are not to blame if he would not let go of sins
  8. But as for the one who came rushing to you, eager ˹to learn˺,
  9. Because he fears the displeasure of Allah
  10.  You did not pay attention to him
  11. Never! You should never do like this. Indeed this (Qur’ an) is an advice.
  12. So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it.
  13.  The Quran is written on honourable pages
  14.  It is highly respected and pure
  15.  It is written by recorders and writers from the angels
  16.  Who are noble and obedient
  17.  Allah’s anger is on the disbelieving man! How ungrateful he is!
  18.  From what thing did Allah create men?
  19.  He created them from a drop and then made the features of their body well-balanced.
  20.  Then Allah makes their birth into the world easy and makes it easy for them to follow the correct path of life.
  21.  then causes them to die and be buried
  22.  Then when he wants to, he will raise them up again
  23.  but men have not done what Allah commanded them.
  24.  Humans should think and wonder over how they get their food
  25.  They should wonder at how Allah pours down plenty of rain
  26.  then how nicely Allah cracks open the soil with sprouts.
  27.  causing grain to grow in it,
  28. as well as grapes and herbs,
  29. and olives and palm trees,
  30. and gardens, full of thick trees,
  31. And fruits and vegetables
  32.  All of it is for humans and animals to eat and use.
  33.  So when the Deafening Noise occurs,
  34.  On that day man will run away from his own brothers and sisters
  35.  And from his mother and father
  36.  And even from his wife and children
  37.  Because he will be worried and fearful for his own result
  38.  On that Day the faces of believers will be bright,
  39.  laughing and rejoicing at the news of Paradise
  40.  and many faces, on that day, will be stained with dust,
  41.  And covered by darkness.
  42.  These will be the faces of the disbelievers and the ˹wicked˺ sinners.

Fatima, (May Allah be pleased with her) the Queen of Jannah leads a simple and humble life in this world. Her husband Ali, and her sons Hassan and Hussain (May Allah be pleased with them) are dearest to the Prophet of Allah, Muhammad (Peace be upon him). When the two boys unfortunately fall sick, the worried parents vow to fast for three days to ask Allah to grant them health.

Things become challenging when right at the time to break the first fast, a needy person knocks at the door and requests the noble family to share their food. This pattern repeats on the second day and third.

Will Fatima and Ali (May Allah be pleased with them) succumb to their hunger or respond to the calls of the needy at their door?
